As avid runners, cyclists and all-around adventurers, we have always sought out great events that combine the best of what we like to do.  In our years of exploring new trails and creating our own adventures, we decided to share our experiences by creating Gemini Adventure Events.

Our goal is to hold races that most competitors wouldn't be able to do on their own -- either because doing the event requires support or because the course is longer or more challenging than most participants would consider doing alone.  Our races draw those looking for a unique challenge. There's nothing better than competition to bring out the best in everyone.

We search for courses that are on trails in beautiful, remote areas and design events that are challenging for everyone to finish yet create great competition for the front of the pack.  We're here to challenge you.  We're here to create a memorable event for you and your family.  We're here for you.  Send us your ideas, thoughts and stories.

Sincerely,

Reid and Michele Delman

Meet our staff:

Reid Delman

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio Reid moved to Boulder, CO in 1994. He is the owner of Gemini Events and lives in Boulder, CO with his wife, Michele,  and two daughters.
When Michele learned they would be having twins, they decided it was a perfect time to leave his job as
high school teacher and wrestling coach to be at home with the babies and start the business they'd
always wanted to. The result is Gemini Events, incidentally named after their
twin daughters, which strives to offer challenging races in beautiful places
with the best runner support around.
Reid has done plenty of challenging events himself. He wrestled for Ohio State and
recently competed in Mixed Martial Arts cagefighting. He has completed two 100 mile running races including
Leadville 100, lots of 50s and loves to make his own adventures - which is how he
finds many of the race courses currently offered.  He has also competed in
adventure races, including  the Eco Challenge, mountain bike races, and Ironman distance triathlons.

Josh Weissman

A native of New York, Josh Weissman had a celebrated career as a wrestler in high school and college.  Sadly, his career was cut short by a tragic lack of training and the onset of old age.  Josh began his entry into the world of ultra-running when his good friend and wrestling partner, Reid Delman, said something like: “A hundred miles? Nah . . . I don’t think you could do it.”    Now a three-time finisher of the Leadville Trail 100 (including one “Double Leadville”), and numerous ultra-distance running and biking events, Josh brings experience as well as charm to the Gemini Adventures team.  A previous career in the U.S. Merchant Marine Service has enabled Josh to travel the world, see amazing sights, and meet lovely, interesting people - such as his wife, Karen.  A wandering vocation has carried them from Alaska, Eastern Canada, & the South Pacific, to a more settled life with two cats and a cozy home in sun-drenched Colorado.  Josh currently enjoys teaching Technology Education at Poudre High School in Fort Collins, where he also helps coach the wrestling team

Karen Balog

Karen lives with her husband, Josh, in Ft. Collins, CO.  She is a certified massage therapist and has a practice in Ft. Collins.

She has been working with Gemini Events for five years and has worked at every event.  She is an endurance runner herself and currently training for her first double marathon.  She has also crewed and paced at three Leadville 100 trail races in a row for her husband, and as a result knows how to encourage and care for runners who push themselves to extremes.

You can often find Karen running the main aid station at our races.

Glen Delman

Glen has lived, worked and played in Boulder, CO since 1989. He currently owns
and operates two small businesses: a residential window washing business and a
photography company.

He is a long time member of Rocky Mountain Rescue and certified as an EMT and
Wilderness First Responder. He serves as the medical director at the Gemini
Events races in addition to helping out in a variety of other capacities.

Having traveled to over 41 countries and 6 continents, he's very well traveled
and as a result has thousands of photographs from virtually every corner of the
world.

He is also an experienced runner and adventurer. He has ridden his bike from
Ohio to Alaska (and back), completed two 100 mile running races (including Leadville) and the
Leadville 100 mile mountain bike race among others.

Alec Muthig

After running Cross Country and 10-15k road races in upstate New York, Alec took a few years off.  In 1999, he became acquainted with the trails outside of Laramie, WY and started spending more and more time in the mountains.  His major ultra accomplishments include respectable finishes at the Leadville Trail 100 and the inaugural Desert R.A.T.S. stage race.

He deems himself an "adventure runner" - focusing his efforts on self-sufficiency in wild places - with his sights set on the Yukon Arctic Ultra and the Iditarod Trail Invitational.

Alec is the race director of the Twin Mountain Trudge 11/22 mile Winter Adventure Footrace, as well as assistant director of the Laramie Enduro 111k mountain bike race, both near Laramie, WY.  He is also an active member of the WARTs (Wyoming Adventure Running Team) and the MBMBP (Medicine Bow Mountain Bike Patrol).

Mark Wolff

Mark Wolff is an outdoor enthusiast with more than twenty-five years of active participation in several sports. Mark Sunderland

Mark has been an athlete his entire life. Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago , his youth was spent playing team sports – primarily football, basketball, and baseball - and was highlighted by winning the Illinois State Championship in high school football his junior year. When he entered college he didn’t know what to do with himself so he thought he would give triathlon a try. Within a few years he and a few friends gave the Ironman distance a go. He figured if he couldn’t go fast he may as well keep going longer! He then made a grave mistake by moving to Boulder, CO. Living here has gotten him involved in things way over his head, but it’s always been a lot of fun!  He is currently planning to go back for my second attempt at finishing the Leadville Trail 100.

·                                 Seven-time Ironman finisher (Great Floridian (x2), Hawaii , IMFL, IMCA, 5430 Tri, IMNZ)

·                                 Over 75+ triathlons of various distances – sprint, Olympic, and half-Ironman

He balances all of his athletic endeavors with his family – his wife Pam is also a triathlete, but mostly concentrates on running marathons, and their two boys – Tyler and Ryan, and their dog Bailey. During the day he is an Accountant, focusing on small business accounting/tax and individual tax preparation.
