You will encounter a wide variety of terrain (sand, rocky desert, stony ground etc).
After a meet and greet at the host hotel, our guides will escort you to a a short section on the Kokopelli Trail that will take you down to a rim above the Colorado River. You will ride along a fast smooth singletrack with moderate elevation change as you look down at the Colorado River. You’ll wind in and out of canyons while viewing the La Sal mountains in the distance. Rolling hills will give a nice flow as you travel over slickrock and hardpacked sand.
A post lunch ride will take you up a short steep climb to the top of the Westwater Mesa with incredible views and a technical descent down to the other side to the trailhead.
Begin the day with an incredible rolling section of sand and slickrock. The trail will take riders along the base of beautiful sandstone cliffs. Lunch will be next to the Colorado River where riders can go for a swim to cool off. After the relaxing lunch you will visit the most remote section this trail has to offer. The exhilarating views of Cottonwood Canyon will give you the juice to tackle the rugged “Rose Garden”.
This day brings you into the alpine section of the tour. Since this section reaches close to 9,000′ in elevation, access will depend on the time of year and snow pack levels. Guides have the ability to pick and choose from a number of trails, each one more beautiful than the next.
This trail is fun and rolling with a net elevation loss at the end of the day. You will ride along the edge of the rim until the last three miles turn off to downhill single track. An incredible way to end a wonderful journey.
